To the owners of VET and the VMP we plead with you, it would be wonderful if you could take in consideration the potential you have with this technology. There are so many of us as developers out here that would love to see the success of this technology. If there is anything I or we can do to help facilitate any requirement or testing as a user community please let us know. We just want an audience. We wouldn't all be posting about this if we did not have a serious investment in your technologies.
As a community we are serious about your technology and see the vast potential it has in the real world. I can not iterate any more clear that there is NOTHING else out there like it. We simply ask are you as invested in your product as we are and is there anything we can do to breath some life back into the VET/VMP? Thanks for your time... |

I was just told that they are no longer supporting the VMP and that I should find something else for my projects.
I think it's too bad because I have lots of work now that I'll have to redo to keep my current project the same for each piece. Does anyone know of any good software packages similar to the Viewpoint stuff? I found Blaze 3d which I'm looking at, and WireFusion. Any others I should be considering? This message has been edited. Who are you to make such an announcement? From my vantage point, that is not the case. Consider that DGFastChannel only recently purchased Viewpoint. The aquiring company's first focus was on the Unicast Platform. It's pretty clear to me that they (the new management, I won't name names)is only now learning about the VMP...and with interest. In the mean time, please do not engage in this. David Roberts Rich3D PS - Barnaby, let's visit |

Still Loving VET !
Maybe the new managers have NOT known the power the VET got!? What about you, cdman'findTo' !? Java-base tech: Holomatix Blaze 3d, WireFusion are good but not the best for Web! You may find it run well for some pieces independently, but when you hit a vast system on our net you'll need the power of VET! |

That's great if another company is going to pick this up and run with it. But when will we see a fix? We've been waiting 6 months with no news. I wasn't just saying things. That's just what I was told. My point was, what should I look into as a replacement for VET and enliven, because I can't wait 6 more months for a fix. Any ideas and suggestions would be welcome. |

I am against marketing / buffing other technologies on a technology forum, so I won't. But my personal opinion is that if Viewpoint fades away, that is the end of Web3d as I have learned to know it. I have seen a few technologies die already, starting with VRML and Cosmoplayer. Viewpoint is the most flexible Web3d format I have seen. I sincerely hope that Viewpoint will be rescued and updated to serve the needs of the customers, some of whom have been customers already when the old lisencing policy was in place... They have paid hard cash for the technology... But even if the worst happens, there are also awesome Game Development Tools out there with web plugins for multiple platforms. Which one is best is up to your needs and requirements (and budget). |

Let's visit this: http://viewpoint.infopop.cc/ev...421098913#4421098913 That is almost a year ago. Your post saying things are progressing was 6 months ago. Are they or aren't they? |
