The point of this post is to try and remind others how important the interactive community sees the Viewpoint player. Sure there are other players out there such Blaze 3D, Java, Anark Player and such. But none of them come even close to the penetration of interactivity media and aesthetics offered by the Viewpoint player. So the problem currently is that we simply can't use the Viewpoint player reliably anymore with such a large market segment out there using Firefox. I'm referring to Firefox 3.0 nto functioning and actually crashing the browser.
There was an update last summer giving us access to Flash 9.0 which is outstanding, but what good does any of that do us if none of us can stand reliably with Viewpoint to sale to our clients. So for the love of interactive media someone please pressure the executives to make some good decisions soon and invest in just cleaning up the player so we can actually use it again. And please I beg encourage us that you are going to stand by your decisions and not let another drastic bug (Fire Fox 3.0) eat away several months of our lives. Some of us believe it or not are actually trying to make a living selling Viewpoint interactive content. -Thanks! |

I am afraid that the viewpoint technology, as great as it was/is?, may be dead technology or in the least case rapidly becoming irrelevant. I wish the parent company would simply state if there are any current plans at all to keep it alive. I would love to see support for Windows Mobile or Android, but that probably is not even on the radar screen.

It's great to see that there are still people out there who have not completely lost their faith and are still working with Viewpoint. Technology wise Viewpoint is still superior compared to others (except the fact that it does not currently support FF3). What makes things the hardest is that Viewpoint has not clearly stated what their plans are with VMP. Are they letting it slowly to fade away or are there some plans to continue?? If the company focus has changed it would be still great to let the faitfull developers around the world who have promoted their technology and stood behind it to have some idea what's going on. Please!

I love VET so much that I don't care what VET will be, I'll Still Loving VET!
You've got what you give. Look what you give back to VET!? All you ask is just a FF3 very problem, not VET's. This message has been edited. Last edited by: myVET, |

VET is a great technology but I don't think that Enliven/Viewpoint/whoever is actually doing any work on it.
I don't think that there is any product out there that can compete in terms of POTENTIAL but the continued problems totally discourage any real adoption. It would really be appreciated if anyone at Viewpoint/enliven could clarify the situation, but I get the impression that there is nobody there. |

Viewpoint is great and with just Firefox 3 support it would live many years to come.
Would be nice to hear official statement from Viewpoint/Enliven about the status and future plans for the player. If not, I guess we need to write a petition to Firefox developers to "fix" firefox instead, then... Viewpoint is STILL the best Web3D format out there! |
