I install VMP 3.5 & I use Vista Home Premium with IE7. After installation, when i go to Control Panel -> Viewpoint Manager (empty paper icon), it will pop up (attachment included). I try to uninstall & then delete viewpoint folder, but Viewpoint Manager in Control Panel still exist.

I try on other 2 Win XP Home with IE7, one can't see Viewpoint Manager in control panel & the other is working well (blue icon with eye in the middle). I use VMP 3.5. I try to redownload & reinstall, but the problem still same.

All of them have Viewpoint Manager Service start. I try to stop and start the service, but nothing happen!

I check the folder from Win XP that running well have 3 folder (Common, Viewpoint Media Player, & Viewpoint Manager) but the rest only 2 folder (Common, Viewpoint Media Player)

1. Go to Add/Remove Program and uninstall Viewpoint Manager if exist.
2 Run regedit, delete the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\ViewpointManager
That should remove the paper icon from the control panel. If the problem still exist, try to reinstall Viewpoint Manager and repeat step 1 and refresh control panel.
We'll fix this bug in the next release of Viewpoint Manager.
Sorry for your inconvenience.

Actually I settled this problem with another method which took me more than 4 hours Frown

For XP, I just copied Viewpoint Manager folder & clicked ViewMgr.exe then everything is ok. for vista, I did trial & error by going to registry & removing from Control Panel (I forget the registry address, it's something like HKLM\...\CLSID{hex code}. After that new problem appeared in which the icon disappeared & changed to white paper icon without any name or any explanation. When I tried to reinstall, Viewpoint Manager with white paper icon appeared with no explanation white paper icon.

Then I went to registry to find any Viewpoint Manager entry & (value not set) which I believed point to these 2 icons & deleted them. Luckily it's settled. Big Grin

Hopefully in the next release. this bug will be settled.

Gentlemen,
This definately looks like a ligitimate site.
I am a Vista user (somewhat knowlegible) and have turned off UAC.
Although I use software to remove virus's spyware etc,
have resisted installed the 'real time' monitoring solutions.
They are very intrusive.
So, three questions:
1. How did you manage to install a product with a directory
and a self starting process on my computer???
2. Any clue as to what the host may have been, and what i thought i was installing.
I am certain that I permitting something, and it had to do somehow with video streaming?
3. How to uninstall the product? In Vista your directly is read-only?

Lastly, is what you are doing legal?

Thank you.

Viewpoint Player is used to play 3D VET Content on the web. You can uninstall it from the control panel. The directory is not read-only. To manually remove the player, delete Viewpoint Media Player folder under Program Files.

I'm using a copy of Windows Vista and I just installed AIM 6.5 on my machine. That installed the Viewpoint player and left a blank page icon in my control panel for Viewpoint Manager. It seems Viewpoint Manager was not installed with the latest version of the Viewpoint Media Player.

I cannot remove this icon even when I uninstall the software. I've even tried editing the registry and removing all the viewpoint entries. This removes the viewpoint labeling from the blank page icon, but it still remains in my control panel.

The above instructions didn't work for me.

Hello,

This is very unusual. We’ll need to delete a registry key. Click on the Start button and select "Run…"

Once the Run window is open, type in “regedit” and press enter. Navigate to the following directory:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\ControlPanel\NameSpace

Delete the following sub key only:

{D5407412-467F-45cd-8594-37DA29512BF6}

This should remove the View Manager icon from the Control Panel.

***The above technique is only used to remove the Viewpoint Manager icon from the Control Panel, not from Add/Remove Programs. ***

*** Also, do not delete anything other than the above sub key or your machine could become corrupted. ***

Please let me know if this works for you.

Best,

Viewpoint Support
