I would like to be able to do architectural walk thru's with VET. I.e, place a camera a inside a model
and be able to 'walk' around it with collision detection to prevent walking through walls and walk up/down stairs etc. Is this possible with VET? I guess it relatively easy to trap mouse events and control the camera but what about the collision detection. Any thoughts any one?

hello, Scotty,

Unfortunately, collision detection is currently not possible with VET, nor gravity.

Pretty nice job Anup Smile

H@®L. Yeah this is "only one solution" in Viewpoint technology i think. Unfortunately i want more freedom in arch presentation. I hope that Viewpoint working on controlled free camera issue. But I can't find roadmap of future VET issues.

Regards
Simon

Hi Simon,

As far as a roadmap, I can tell you that the first issues will probably be getting the Mac version of the VMP up to date and looking at improving VMP's support for Flash. We are aware that a better walk camera model and collision detection are desires as well, but these are not the top on our priority list at the moment. Please check back regularly to Dev Central and the forums for updates.

Regards

I think the big question is how valuable collision detection really is for creating architectural walkthroughs. Is it for entertainment purposes or to deliver information (such as in a real-estate setting?)

Yeah its true. Information is most valuable for a client.
But Smile Take a ride on visualisations at http://www.vrplatform.com/gallery.asp Control Camera with keyboard And please tell me if it rocks and jaw dropping Wink isn't it ?

The purpose of my posts is to push Viewpoint on path of "free controlled camera with collision detection" Smile I'm not trying to decrease value of Viewpoint technology. It's really great. And price is good for normal users or small companies. But i want only to remind You that other similar companies working on technologies of collision detection because it is a future. (online 3d entertainment)
Im really appereciate your programmers work because i know its not simple. Good work Team! Smile

Im truly waiting for collision detection in online 3d with flash Smile

Kind Regards
Simon

Hi Neosim!!

Thanx for the appreciation Smile.

Also, pls give me your email ID. I have an example of collision detection done in VET. Its a very basic and experimental demo. There may be bugs. I made it some time back whe I was playing around with collision in VET.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Anup

You can see demos here in executables files.
http://www.vrplatform.com/download/room/index.htm
http://www.vrplatform.com/download/sell/
http://www.vrplatform.com/download.asp

I don't understand Chinese completly but i used online translator below (from Chinese Simplified to English)
http://www.worldlingo.com/en/websites/url_translator.html

Demos of similar project and great technology too:
http://www.quest3d.com/index.php?id=15 especially Studyhall, Widescreen Room and cool Demo Home Cinema
http://www.quest3d.com/download/demo3/Quest3D_Demo_Home_Cinema_Gamical.exe Wink "The world is changed.." Smile
http://www.gamicalstudio.com/uk/content/blogsection/14/88/
http://www.gamicalstudio.com/online/homedemo/

Now you can feel this nice freedom of controlled camera in Architectural walk thru's.
Ofcourse there is also TT www.turntool.com which support browser ActiveXs wchich i tried. I can say TT is great but is too expensive with !!!1 year licence!!!.
This is mistake and real blocks their expanding for none Arch markets I think. And TT don't have Flash! like Viewpoint have. Yeah. This is the best.
Another technology(Japan): Cult3D. I used their technology 3 years ago. I made some online mobiles visualisations. Simple mouse turntable option was great in Cult3D. Ofcourse they were very expensive. Unfortunately now Cult is lost in action (for me)

Viewpoint is the light in the tunnel for my own ideas and pocket Smile I'd started my own business and want to use Enliven Pro in my online gallery with prints on canvas.
Want to create small and simple 3d virtual gallery. I want to meet reality as close as it possible througt 3d online technology.
That's why i need free controled camera with simple collision detection Wink This issue have big future potencial in projects and ideas which don't exist for now. But they could born when collision detection'll appear in Viewpoint technology.
Ok sorry for this little summary Wink But hey! links above expanding point of view. I know that Viewpoint team knows own competition and similar technologies. Its sure thing. I'm only the man who want progress in own life.
