I am having major problems with the Viewpoint Media Player? biggest one ? it doesn?t work! I take that back, I do get a few (not all) demos to run off the viewpoint website, but they are all watermarked??? Even the little dragonfly at the bottom of the home page is watermarked? When I publish out of scene builder and then generate an HTML file to run locally it comes up with the VMP installer, (which I already have installed) and it show?s the cube and states it is installed, (btw ? the installer is even watermarked) but no content shows? I refresh and it tries to install the player again??? I?m running WinXP Pro and the latest version of IE6? Anyone ? HELP!!!

Hey Pissed_User,

Whoa! This is not good! Even though this is the first time we've encountered these problems and I would like to get in touch with you ASAP. Can you please write me at qa-support@viewpoint.com, Attn. Chris? Please include contact information if you don't mind me contacting you directly. One more question: when you are installing, are you logged in as a user with full administrative rights? I'm assuming that you are, which is why I want to talk to you as soon as possible.

Hey,

I dug up a possible problem that we encountered only once before: it seems that on new systems of XP, there are occasionally problems with security and administrative rights. What happened before was that a user with full admin rights was not able to install correctly. However, upon logging in expressly as Administrator, the problem was immediately alleviated and never returned.

One more thing and it's extremely important: you need to use the free Viewpoint application Control Panel to uninstall the plugin before reinstalling.

If you have installed Poser on your machine, there is also a conflict that could be causing this. Poser installs a very old version of the player that conflicts with newer versions and you need to manually uninstall that. This happens only on XP machines. Unfortunately, you can't use Control Panel to uninstall this. Please verify whether or not you have Poser installed.

One last thing: can you please specify exactly what version of the player was installed? Thanks.

~Chris
