Hello,

There seems to be a bug in VMP 3.3 installer with FF 1.5. Files 'npViewpoint.dll' and 'npViewpoint.xpt' are not installed in FF plugin's directory. So for example your LEXUS demo does not work. In fact you can see the car but interactions from html buttons (zoom, rotation) does not work.

1) If you install FF 1.07, VMP 3.3, then upgrade to FF 1.5 everything is OK.

2) Then, uninstall FF 1.07 and VMP 3.3

3) remove in 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Mozilla' all the 'Mozilla Firefox' and 'Mozilla Firefox version' entries .

4) remove the 'C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox' directory because the 'plugin' directory is still here.

5) install FF 1.5, start it

6) install VMP 3.3

If you check the ff plugin's directory, your dlls are not here as they should.

I checked the firefox 1.5 registry keys and they seem to look like the 1.07 ones.

It seems your installer can't find 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Mozilla\Mozilla Firefox 1.5\Extensions' to get the 'Plugins' entry.

Thx to have a look.

Lionel

This is a known issue. You are correct on all points. They will see content but there will be no scripting support (no PluginCommand). If a user has a clean install of FF 1.5 (no previous version), they will manually have to copy the dll and xpt from the VMP directory to their firefox plugin directory. This will be fixed in next VMP release (no solid time yet).

When will be the next VMP release? How can I release a product with viewpoint content if VMP doesn`t support the most recent browsers?

Viewpoint should have a better support.

Greetings all,

I am happy to announce that we have released an updated installer for the VMP to better support the Firefox web browser. This Executable, along with an enhanced MTS3Interface, will improve the user experience when installing VMP while using Firefox.

This release will fix known Firefox problems with current instillations of the VMP, new installations of the VMP, and a few issues discovered when running in non-English language operating systems, such as French. To read more about it or see it in action, go to http://developer.viewpoint.com/ and look at the headlines on the right side.

Next up is a revamped MTS3Interface with more installation options to better support the various client needs for IE, Firefox (Mozilla) and a ZIP file delivery for MAC OSX. Stay tuned for updates.
