long time ago i created several MTS files with canoma. everything worked fine. now, a few years later, with xp (sp2) and ie6 it seems not. i tried the automatic and the manual installer. everything works fine with the samples on your page, but if i double-click a mts file xp says it's unknown - choose a prog from the list... although MTS-extensions are recognized as "viewpoint media content" in the explorer. this happend on three machines, all reacting the same way.
i tried to resave the files with your scene builder, but it worked neither.
please help me with this. i'm sure it`s just a simple bug.

ok, hopefully you have the accompanying mtx files that go with your mts files. First of all you cannot simple double click an mts file to open it up, it needs to be embeded in a web page. So if you have the mtx files, open Scene Builder, then click 'Open MTX' on the Load tab. Then go to the Publish tab and click save HTML only. Then all you have to do is double click on the html you created to see your scene.

If you don't hace the MTX files, it's likely that the objects in your MTS file will not be positioned correctly. I should point out that the MTS files contain all the geometry (and in some cases textures) while the MTX file contains all the object hierarchies, their positions, transformations, animations, etc. However, you can open an MTS file by clicking 'Add MTS' on the load tab (in Scene Builder) then on the publish tab, click 'save MTX' then 'Save HTML only'.

1st of all thanks for your reply. it helped me a lot in understanding this material.
i never had any accompaning mtx files. canoma just made a html and a mts file. in my case i put canoma to rest in peace and made new models with 3dmax and viewpoint's export plugin. it worked fine - i'm 100% satisfied.

thanks again,

Dear Duncan,

I have a very similar problem except I have the MTX and MTS files, I can publish the HTML and view within HomeSite, but not directly in Internet Explorer 6 on XP (sp2).

This is old code which worked before, any ideas?

I have come to realise that the problem is that I have recently upgraded my server to windows 2003. Their is nothing wrong with my code, but it may be a permissions problem.

However, I cant seem to find how to change the situation. I have looked at as many permissions I can think of but it wont allow me to show anything using the player.

Any ideas would really be grateful.

Regards

John
