Hello RAW iMAGE,
Much has changed since the old MetaStream days.

The current technology requires several things to get the scene to work. The mts file holds the media atoms which arrive on the client side browser. Accompanying the *.mts file is a *.mtx file.

The mtx file declares the media atoms (the 3D objects, changeable texture maps, cameras, etc.) existance. Then, the mtx file allows manipulation of the objects and elements within the scene. The mtx file also entombs animation parameters. Nearly all the attributes of a scene may be animated through tweening variations.

Additionally, a *.html file is necessary in order deliver the scene onto a web page. The html file declares the width and height of the scene and it prepares the browser for any Javascript calls that occur. Graphic elements can be HTML buttons which trigger animations through JavaScript talking to the MTX file.

When in SceneBuilder, hitting the Publish button will create the MTS file, the MTX file, and an HTML file. Additionally, a 3dresources folder is created which holds some of the Viewpoint magic Java and other components of the scene.

You may manipulate the html file at will, you may hand code and enhance the MTX file if you are studied on the subject. The mts file is not something that you will find much to do. You don't want to twice publish an MTS file as it degrades the quality some how or another.
There is a boat load (or more) of documentation available on this. Remarkably enough, it may be found under at the documentation area of Developer.Central
The XML Ref tool is good for quick questions.
Is it more complex than the old Pygmalion stuff? Why yes, and it can do more too!

Excellent explanation David, thanks... I just want to add that in the upcoming release you will once again be able to rotate objects and they'll keep spinning via the new VETOrbitManipulator.

wow, a big fat THANKs for your extended explanation.
i could not persuade the scene builder to resave my old mts into new html, mtx and mts files. anyway...
i made new models with 3dmax. everthing worked fine. i'll take a look xml ref tool and the doc area.
one more question: is it possible to display different render modes like 'flat' 'point' or 'wire'. didn't found a n option in the export plug. my resaved (builder) files look the same way than before. man, so much to learn.... Smile

New 2008.12.09 - MHplay.exe with .mts playback added.

I use this little program to play back media files almost to the exclusion of all others. It is small (100k) and I have copied it to my camera chips so that I have a player with me when I am not at home.

For Download of MHPLAY.exe
