The Viewpoint Media Exporter for LightWave was announced in 1998 and was last updated in 2001. The last version of LightWave supported was v6.5. The current version of LightWave is v9.3.
At that point, I think most people using LightWave for VMP content started using Right Hemisphere's Deep Exploration to convert their LightWave assets into MTX/MTS sets. But from what I've seen, Deep Exploration hasn't offered a VET plug-in for years now. The last version of Deep Exploration I know of that offered a VET plug-in was 3.5. So what are people using to get their 3D content from an animation package like LightWave, 3dsmax, and Maya, to Viewpoint these days? The solution certainly is not to create your content in Enliven. I'm sure Enliven is a fine tool for certain tasks, but it's no replacement for a dedicated 3D modeling/animation package. In fact, we don't even use Enliven, because you can't build morphs in it like you can Scene Builder. I did notice that Polytrans seems to have a VET plug-in. http://www.okino.com/conv/exp_vet.htm Thanks, Dustin |

I'm just an animator. Our programmers evaluated Enliven a year or so ago and determined that we are better off continuing to use Scene Builder. I don't know all of their reasons for coming to that conclusion, but one of them was that you apparently cannot create morphs in Enliven, whereas you can in Scene Builder. Enliven certain has a much nicer interface than Scene Builder, but it apparently lacks some important features our programmers are used to utilizing for our projects.
