Hi, I have a client with a proprietary 3d model.
Is there a way to protect that model in the viewer? If I am correct there is a plugin out there someplace that lets people import the models found in the viewer to a 3d app. Any information is appreciated. Thanks |

Hello,
To date I am not aware of any software that can import the geometry/texture .mts file and export it to another program. Only our 3D Photo Studio was able to do that, but we don't distribute it publically. If there is a third party software out there that can do such, I'd love to hear about it. :) Regards |

He could have done it these 3 ways:
- 3D Photostudio - SceneBuilder - RH’s VMI (not sure about this one) - Some home-made program built using our SDK. Option 1, 3D Photo Studio, is not publically distributed, but we do provide it on a request-by-request basis (unsupported). It is able to import .mts and export .3ds. Option 2: with Scene Builder, someone can import your mts. But they can only write mtx code to use what geometry and textures are already stored in the mts. They can't alter the mts file themselves in anyway. So, since they can't alter geometry or textures to make it look like they're own model, it's always a dead give-away if the author sees it. Option 3 is possible, but Right Hemisphere discontinued VMI a long time ago. To date, we haven't heard of anyone who did option 4. We have made an entry in the VMP development backlog to re-visit this to see if we may sure-it-up some more. Regards |
