With the number of applications that output FBX now it would be nice if Enliven would import FBX. This format retains rigging, animations, cameras, lights etc. It can be exported from 3DS Max, Maya, Lightwave, Carrara 5 Pro, Cinema 4D, Daz|Studio, XSI and a handful of others. In many cases the plug-in to export is either included or free. There is also a free converter from obj and 3ds format. The SDK for creating an FBX plug-in is free. Well then I guess I am stuck waiting for the next version. (Because paying $500 at this time isn't worth the return I am likely to get.) Hopefully the next version won't be too far off.
Actually if Carrara 6 Pro fixes the FBX interface and improves the memory handling enough to do the VET export correctly it won't be needed. (And Carrara 6 isn't that far off.)
You would have to export from DE as ASE and then bring that into Enliven. That will be the only possible path until the next version of Enliven is released. However, it's not an optimal solution and may not preserve your mesh morphs but I suppose it's worth a shot. I also alerted someone at DAZ regarding your RAM issue when exporting from Carrara and they said they are looking into if they can reproduce it.
VETLink is our format for bringing into Enliven. But this option is only availabe in Deep Exploration 3.5 (the version that is currently shipping with Enliven). Enliven is not configured until the next release to talk to Deep Exploration 5.0.
If you bought the non-DE version of Enliven and it turns out you need Deep Exploraton 3.5 after all, inform Rich 3D and they should be able to charge you only for the upgrade which is much much cheaper than if you bought Deep Exploration alone. Besides, only we are distributing Deep Exploration 3.5 which is configured to work with Enliven. Right Hemisphere no longer offers it anyway.
