Q. Is it possible to convert a 3D file generated with the 3D CAD Pro/ENGINEER (Parametric Technology Corporation) or CATIA into VET?
A. There are three approaches for converting Pro/ENGINEER files to the VET format: Recommended Approach: Use PolyTrans from Okino. http://www.okino.com/conv/exp_vet.htm One primary and core business of Okino is selling their rendering (NuGraf) and data translation (PolyTrans) to Pro/E users. If there are less than 12 parts in an assembly then tag each part with a different color and export as 'Render File SLP'. Otherwise, export out an IGES file using the default '#144 Trimmed Surfaces with uv-space Trim Curves". Okino guarantees that their IGES conversions from Pro/E has the cleanest trim curves of any package. They also provide excellent technical support and specialized programming services for IGES conversion customers. With PolyTrans you can also bring data from any other CAD package based on: IGES, VRML1, VRML2, DXF, SLP, STL, ACIS SAT, etc. Second approach: - Create geometry Pro/ENGINEER - Export as *.obj files - Bring into the MTS3 Scene Builder using Add OBJ - Publish to create *. mts and *. mtx - Integration into html-file (use the MTX 2 HTML application) Third approach: - Create geometry in Pro/ENGINEER - Export as *.stl files - Import in 3D Studio MAX, create any animations and export as *. ase - Bring into the MTS3 Scene Builder using Import ASE - Publish to create *. mts and *. mtx - Integration into html-file (use the MTX 2 HTML application) |
