Hi all,
I've searched and cannot find an answer for this issue...

issue:
1) I use the Zoomview plugin in Photoshop CS1.
2) I put the files on my website.
3) The zoomview image doesn't show up (but works on my local pc).

notes:
a) Mine is NOT a commercial site.
b) I downloaded the BroadcastKey.mtx and put it into my root folder on my website.
c) I downloaded and used the Photoshop template 2D_UI.
d) I've read the zoomview tutorial.
e) I tried editing the html file by entering the BroadcastKey.mtx value.
f) I tried entering the URL for the broadcast key in the Photoshop export/zoomview interface.
g) Installed the latest viewpoint media player.

Questions:
1) Has zoomview been retired by ViewPoint?
2) Is a broadcast key required for personal use? If not, is there a how-to anywhere?

Personal Observation:
ViewPoint does not offer any help for zoomview, and these forums look to be rarely used as most of the posting dates are years old. It seems I may be in the wrong place for help, but am hoping someone out there will read this and help me.

Thanks for any help.

Hello!

No, the forums are quite active, actually. :-) The documentation you seek on zoomview is here: http://developer.viewpoint.com/dc/docs.shtml?tab=REF&sub=DOCU

Everything in the documentation applies except for the broadcast key information which, as you've seen, we have eliminated and provide a universal broadcast key for free download on Developer Central (http://developer.viewpoint.com).

My guess is the content is not showing up because you have not registered the mime types on your server. For info on how to register the mime types, refer to the Viewpoint Rich Media Authoring Guide > Chapter 12: Scene Testing & Deployment> Deploying Your Viewpoint Scene> Registering MIME Types.

Thank you for the reply.
While trying to work through these issues per your suggestions, I stumbled upon a product called "Zooomify" and "EZ Imager", which works great for me. In less than 10 minutes, I accomplished my goal of having a zoomable hi-res image on my website. I think Zoomview is probably geared more for business use.

Glad you found something that works nicely for you! Actually, we're not exactly geared only toward business use, but alot of the complexity comes from the fact that our player handles so much more than just hi-res zoomable images.

We support zoomview, interactive 3D models, video, audio, flash, and panoramics all in the same player. In addition, all these mediums can be combined in very creative ways such as mapping 6 different zoomviews to the 6 sides of an interactive 3D cube, or placing interactive flash as an interface for the project or as an interactive interface on a 3D object such as a cell phone.

Video and audio can be used in the same way such as mapping video of water onto a sphere to create a "liquid 3D button" effect or placing video to run directly in the screen of a 3d model of a HD television set, etc.

We're working hard to consolidate information and documentation for people that want to use individual components, such as zoomview, by themselves, but as you can see, we are a one-stop shop for all online multimedia needs. You won't find any other online player technology that does everything under one roof like we do. Smile

Regards,
