Hi,

VMP is not supported on Intel Macs. We will be evaluating support for Intel Macs with our next set of updates to VMP for Mac.

any updates on this?

I only ask because a major client has just invested in upgrading their whole set up to intel based imacs and they can't see the viewpoint content anymore....

Hello,

This is in the plans for this year, but we haven't nailed-down an exact date. Please check Developer Central regularly for updates.

I gather from one of the other threads that the release date for the intel mac version of the vmp is end Q1 2007. Is there likely to be a public beta testing period prior to this?

Best regards

Barnaby

Hello,

We are strongly considering setting up a beta testing program for this. Check back regularly for updates.

Hey Barnaby
Long time no see...nice to see you hanging around here.

When Viewpoint conjures up a new Mac VMP, then you will get a note from Rich3D....in the newsletter.
They are working on it and they do see/feel/understand the need.
in the mean time,
take care pal!

Thanks David.

I am now utterly desperate to get hands on the new media player.

Hope that the rabbit gets out of the hat soon.

Hi Barnaby,

Here's a question for you: exactly what features is your content using? If they are features for anything VMP version 3.2.1 and below, they should work on Intel Macs. What doesn't work on any Macs is any VMP features 3.2.2 and above.

Can you give me a rough idea of what your content is doing? Maybe a link to some demo content somewhere?

Regards

I am using:
Safari Version 2.0.4 (419.3)
on
Machine Name: MacBook Pro 15"
Machine Model: MacBookPro1,1
Processor Name: Intel Core Duo
with
Mac OS X 10.4.8 (8L2127)

I downloaded and ran
VMP Min 3.2.1.25

which put
an alias to NPMetaStream3.dll into /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/
and
Viewpoint Media Player/
Components/
Plug-In/
MTS3Runtime.dll
NPMetaStream3.dll
SafariPrimer

I have updated my MTS3Interface.js to Version 05.00.02.05

Most of my mtx files invoke version "311", I have updated on to "315".
My constructor line is:
<script type="text/javascript" language="javascript">
<!--
vmp = new MTSPlugin("mtx.php?ID=shell.mtx", "100%", "100%","../bkey.mtx","simple","topurl=http://www.iprodotti.it");
-->
</script>
Here is an example.

I just get sent to the installer.

Barnaby,

We're still looking into it. Stand by. I looked at the content on your website through PC, and it appears to be content that only uses features of the VMP that are compatible with Mac. So it should work. We'll pinpoint the problem for you.

Regards

No. I am very sorry. You were right from the beginning. VMP does not run on Intel macs. The only way to run VMP on Intel macs is to view the content with Safari running in Rosetta mode. Again, my sincere apologies! Sometimes even I get confused between all the browsers, os's, computer types, etc...

Sorry to get your hopes up, but if it is of any consolation, we are aiming for the first half of this year to have the Intel compatible Mac VMP released.

Regards

that gives me a temporary solution.

Looking forward to the working intel plug-in though.

Hi Dr B.

The release is pushed back to end of July. Rich 3D will be running a beta program which will start end of June at which time you'll be contacted for participation.
