When you try to load alpha maps onto geometry they don't work. And it seems like viewpoint doesn't really care much about fixing this at the moment. Why? Ask them.

Are you the one publishing the material you're viewing? I had a problem with alpha maps as well, but I found a fix by changing the SortRule
