Printing HTML page containing Viewpoint Activex works properly in IE5, but it doesn't in IE4. (the activex area is blank on the printed page)
According to this MSDN KB Article (http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q206/9/98.ASP) IE4 handles the print in a different way, creating a temp page, so the embedded object must support properly all property and data persistence. Is that right? Thanks in advance for your reply. |

Im' surprised that you can make it print properly with IE5, because that doesn't work for me either! Did you do anything special to configure your IE5/HTML/ActiveX to make it work?

Hi
I am sorry to tell you this but from my experience and knowledge it is NOT possible to print the VMP area in IE older then IE6. The reason is simple. When you see the image on the screen, the data is rendered by the graphical card. BUT, when you print it, the printer driver does not know how to render the VMP area and you get a blank area on the page where the VMP should have been. IE6 is doing the rendering for the printer so the VMP area comes out great (in OS older the Win98). I work only with IE so I cannot tell you about Netscape. By the way, this issue exist not only for VMP but for many other pluggins and ActiveXs that needs 3D rendering. Bye, awa |
