How are you applying the schema? If you are using XML Spy, open your mtx file, then go to DTD/Schema and choose Assign Schema. Then, just browse to where you have the schema located and then choose ok and it should work. If that doesn't work, can you give me more information on your steps to repeat the problem?

barry,
those are exactly the steps i followed, but get an error when choosing the schema file. with the error, it prompts the "OK" option, upon clicking it, the error disappears.then none of the "schema" functionality is available, which indicates that it didn't work. when i "validate" my mtx file, i get the following error: see screenshot attached.... i've tried xmlspy v3.5 and v4 demo. thanx barry |

I am still trying to understand the problem. Did you make any changes to the schema file? Why was the schema open in XML Spy? It should apply to the mtx file without having to open it. I was also using version 4.4. Can you give me any more details about the steps you took while opening the mtx and applying the schema? I can't seem to duplicate the problem yet.

here's my what i do:
1) open project mtx file for editing 2) go to DTD/Schema and click Assign Schema 3) then choose the original schema xml file as provided by VET 4) receive "error1" 5) click "ok" 6) the xml schema file as provided by VET now opens as well 7) i activate my project mtx file for editing, which is still open 8) i choose the Validate option 9) it produces "error2" like i said, i performed the correct steps. thanx barry jave |

Well, I am still trying to reproduce the problem and cannot get it on my machine. (win 2k) I did notice in the screenshot you provided that you were using version 3.5 of XMLSpy, I was using version 4.4 for creation and testing. This may be the reason I cannot reproduce the problem. I do know that there is a trial version of XMLSpy 5.0 that is available from the XMLSpy website. Would you be interested in trying out the trial version and letting me know if it makes a difference? I have used 4.4 and 5 and it seems to work ok on win2k and XP. I do not have access to 3.5. If it does not work on 3.5, we do need to know that. Please let us know if that is the problem.
Thanks, Barry |

Everything works perfectly in xmlspy 5 trial version. the VET schema definitely does not work in xmlspy 3.5. i also remember testing it with xmlspy 4.4 trial version, and also didn't work. thanx for your help. jave |

Thank you, that is definately good to know. I am not sure why it didn't work in 4.4, that is what I was using, but I will add to documentation that it does not work in earlier versions. Thanks again for the research you did.
